New York natives Dao-Yi Chao and Maxwell Osborne view fashion as a language, shaped by the city’s diverse public school subcultures. Meeting in the design department at Sean John, they launched Public School in 2008, blending streetwear sensibilities with high-fashion rigor. The label, celebrated for its NYC-made menswear and later womenswear, earned the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year in 2013 and has maintained its commitment to domestic manufacturing, reflecting the energy, diversity, and irreverence of New York in every piece.
